MARIUS DE VILLIERS
BIOGRAPHY
Marius started his clerkship at Fleischacks Attorneys in 1989, admitted as an attorney in 1991 and named partner shortly thereafter. Marius then branched out independently to start De Villiers Attorneys in 1993.
He places great emphasis on building strong client relationships through a focus on quality services and a commendable work ethic; an example he sets for the entire firm.
Marius has been involved in Civil Litigation, Commercial Law and Property matters since the start of the firm, but is highly specialised in Mining Law. He has supported clients in numerous high profile matters relating to Mining, Corporate Compliance, Tax, Commercial, Property, BEE transactions and litigation.
Through his natural and long-lasting passion for the law, Marius has built a reputation for people-centric service, supported by his wealth of legal knowledge and experience.

SIPHO PUWANI
BIOGRAPHY
In 1994 Sipho started his articles with Lloyd Padayachi Attorneys and admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 1997, his focus was on criminal and civil litigation, administration of estates and estate planning. The passion for just outcomes made Sipho see clients more as human beings in need of legal solutions.
Sipho also focused in property law and was admitted as a conveyancer in 1998. Sipho widened his focus to include social and economic justice interest within the economic sphere. This led to him running and managing institutions seeking to spread economic
benefits to a wider footprint of historically disadvantaged individuals (HDI). That included studying, understanding and implementing legislation and regulations relating to BEE and B-BBEE.
Other than practicing conveyancing, Sipho spends more time advising corporate clients on the implementation, maintenance and compliance with BEE related legislation. Critically is the troubleshooting of problems related to B-BBEE shareholder relations.
ENGELA S. DE VILLIERS
BIOGRAPHY
Engela started her law career at The Department of Justice as a State Prosecutor in 1989. She joined De Villiers Attorneys in 1999 and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2001.
Her main legal focus areas are Estates and Conveyancing, whilst also playing a pivotal management role in the firm; covering finance, governance, administration and setting operational standards for customer service.
Engela is at the heart of the firm; practising her passion for the law in select cases, whilst ensuring the team is adhering to quality standards, executing with unwavering commitment and keeping clients at the centre of De Villiers Attorney services.

NICHOLAS J. VAN DEN BERGH
BIOGRAPHY
Nicholas started his articles at De Villiers Attorneys, whilst still studying in 2013. He completed his degree in 2015 and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2016,
His main focus areas are Corporate Law, Property Law, Personal Injury and Civil Litigation and his enthusiasm, eagerness and focus with which he pursues his clients needs is inspiring and contagious.

PIETER N. MEYER
BIOGRAPHY
Pieter started as a candidate attorney at Gerrit Coetzee Attorneys, where he obtained extensive experience in commercial matters, civil litigation and debt collection. He was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2014.
In 2013 Pieter obtained his LLM in Environmental Management Law and joined De Villiers Attorneys as a professional assistant, specialising in the following: Environmental, Health and Safety, Labour and Mining law.
Pieter is outcomes driven, dedicated to getting results for his client by managing each instruction with a hands-on attitude.

LEE-ANN LOUW-NEL
BIOGRAPHY
Lee-Ann obtained her LLB degree cum laude in 2015 and her LLM degree cum laude in 2017 from the NWU in Potchefstroom. During her final year of undergraduate studies she also completed her final semester at Leiden University in the Netherlands on an exchange programme. She completed law school and her clerkship whereafter she was admitted as an attorney in 2017, and a conveyancer and notary in 2019. She practised as Conveyancer and cost consultant at Nel Attorneys in Potchefstroom before she joined De Villiers Attorneys in October 2020. She is also currently enrolled for her Doctorate Degree in international aspects of the law.

MARGIE DE VILLIERS
BIOGRAPHY
Margie started her law career as a candidate attorney at a top Sandton based law firm and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2021.
Margie specialises in corporate and commercial law. She has extensive experience in assisting clients with their corporate needs including advising and structuring of transactions, drafting of agreements and closure of such transactions. She is straightforward and communicates clearly about legal options and is actively concerned about her clients’ welfare and success.
